We offer the following outpatient rehabilitation programs:
Amputee
Life after amputation is filled with the challenge of adapting and returning to
a normal life. The goal of HealthSouth's amputee program is to return the patient
to the highest level of independence and functional lifestyle at home, in the community
and in the workplace.
Arthritis
For many people the pain of osteoarthritis can become so severe that it disrupts
normal living. Caring for yourself becomes difficult, and handling family or work
responsibilities may become impossible. HealthSouth's arthritis rehabilitation program
helps an individual reduce and manage their pain while increasing their independence.
Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy is often prescribed by physicians for clients who are suffering
from a variety of disorders. The aquatic environment not only improves patient confidence
and aids in pain management, but also helps patients regain function and independence
and facilitates the return to work and play.
Brain Injury
Early rehabilitation is critical to help patients achieve their fullest potential
after brain injury. HealthSouth has established a rehabilitation program that helps
patients achieve and maximize functional and cognitive recovery following a brain
injury. The program enables patients to become more self-sufficient and understand
how to avoid future health problems.
Community Re-entry and Re-education
This program prepares patients to successfully re-enter the community following an injury or illness.
Fractures
Rehabilitation following an orthopedic surgery can be a challenging experience. The rehabilitation program for hip fracture
or other orthopedic surgery was established to assist our patients in setting and achieving their goals to maximize functional recovery and independence.
Functional Capacity Evaluations
Certified evaluators conduct a typically 4-6 hour evaluation to determine a client’s ability to
return to a job or modified job or to determine their maximum physical capacity or work tolerance.
General Rehabilitation
HealthSouth’s General Rehabilitation Program provides comprehensive medical rehabilitation services for
individuals who have experienced a decline in their physical and cognitive abilities. This decline may be due to an illness or other medical
condition. Our General Rehabilitation Program is designed to help patients maximize functional independence; maximize emotional well-being;
and resume their previous roles or modified roles at work, home or leisure.
Hand Therapy
A certified hand therapist, as well as other highly-qualified occupational therapists, manage both acute and
chronic hand conditions. They perform hand splinting and exercise progression.
Incontinence Program
Incontinence is a common condition among women, especially after childbirth or during menopause. HealthSouth’s
incontinence rehabilitation program includes strategies and techniques for exercising pelvic muscles and how to manage discomfort, as well as
classes about the different types of incontinence.
Industrial and Work Hardening
HealthSouth’s Industrial Rehabilitation Program is an injury prevention and management program. Our
objective is to identify the injured worker’s current functional limitations and successfully rehabilitate the individual to the level of
physical and functional conditioning required to return safely to work.
Lymphedema
HealthSouth's Lymphedema Program focuses on alleviating the swelling that occurs
in legs, arms, face, neck, abdomen or chest when the lymphatic system malfunctions.
Our program is based on a patient's needs and goals and results in reduced swelling
and improved quality of life. The program also teaches both the patient and family
to manage the condition and provides follow-up care and referral to additional resources
as necessary.
Neurorehabilitation
HealthSouth's Neurological Disorders Program meets the needs of patients with chronic
progressive conditions such as Parkinson's disease, or acute remitting diseases
such as Multiple Sclerosis. By following a rehabilitation plan designed to achieve
functional gains, patients become more functionally independent and learn how to
reduce the risk of future medical problems.
Orthopedics/Sports Medicine
Orthopedic rehabilitation treats musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. HealthSouth's
pathway to recovery for patients with orthopedic conditions helps them achieve and
maintain functional gains in a timely, cost-effective manner. The program is individualized
according to a patient's needs, functional goals and extent of injury.
Pediatrics
Helping a child achieve his or her full potential following an injury or illness
requires special care and guidance. After many years of treating children, HealthSouth
has established a rehabilitation program to help children return to normal activities
and avoid future health problems.
Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal cord rehabilitation is an intricate and complicated process that requires
a team of experts to enhance a patient's abilities on physical, cognitive and emotional
levels. Based on a patient's limitations, our interdisciplinary team establishes
an individualized treatment plan. Each plan of care incorporates specific methods
that encourage the patient to develop pragmatic problem-solving approaches appropriate
for his or her rehabilitation and continuing care.
Stroke
After many years of helping individuals recover from stroke, HealthSouth has established
a stroke rehabilitation program to help patients achieve functional gains in a timely,
cost-effective manner. This pathway to recovery allows patients to become more functionally
independent and understand how to incorporate lifestyle changes that reduce the
risk of future strokes or other complications.
Vestibular Program
Through a multidisciplinary team approach, this program evaluates patients with persistent
dizziness or disequilibrium. This team evaluation allows for a timely and more accurate diagnosis of the condition,
thus enabling more appropriate intervention.
Yoga Rehabilitation Program
This program applies the healing and exercise properties of yoga to
rehabilitation. Traditional yoga poses are adapted to musculoskeletal injuries. An individual program is created
to maximally benefit each patient’s rehabilitation goals.
